A really beautiful velvet vest, richly decorated with golden embroidery, pearlescent pink and green beads, sequins and faceted jewel-like beads. The vest is lined in a very lightweight black fabric, almost like a muslin. Absolutely stunning! The vest came to me with several other pieces that originated in the early mid-century era, but I cannot pinpoint the age of this one. Kismet, made in India. Please see the measurements for best fit.
Vintage, good condition overall, with some notes: there are a number of areas of loose stitching in the embroidery, as pictured, a few coloured beads have had their colour peel off to reveal the pearly plastic bead beneath. The interior of the vest has a couple of very small areas where the lining has worn or has a pale mark, no bigger than a pencil eraser. There are likely a few missing beads or sequins that I've missed. Overall, the vest presents beautifully, with a degree of wear expected for its age. I've pictured everything that I've mentioned here. The vest has been very carefully cleaned and is ready for action!
