An interesting bit of history! This etched copper bangle came from the Golden Gate International Exposition of 1939. I didn't know much about this particular world's fair, and was rather curious, given what was going on in the world at the time. The Treasure Island Museum has a really fantastic website with loads of info on this particular fair. I highly recommend having a read of it. I can't link it here, but it's easy to search up. There are loads of photos of the pavilions and exhibits, which are stunning. If like me, you are mad for 1930's art and design, please go and have a look. There are also stories of resilience, tenacity and coming-together-ness that will bolster your heart, which I think we need very much.
The bangle itself is a band of copper, etched on one side with images of some of the pavilions and exhibitions: the Palace of Liberal and Fine Arts, Administration Building, Pacifica, Temple of Music, Federal Building, and the Palace of International Exhibits. The inside is stamped as seen in the photo.
Vintage, good condition. There is some lovely turquoise patina which has filled in the etching in some places, making it really stand out. I have made no attempt to remove it, because I think this is the beauty of copper!
